Mine had grilled marinated chicken and algerian sauce which is a spicy mayo sauce. French tacos are basically some sort of burrito with inside a white cheese sauce, a meat of choice (or multiple meats of choice), with fries and another sauce of choice (you can choose multiple)

    That’s a lot to unpack.

    * French
    * Halal
    * Tacos
    * O’Tacos (suddenly Irish?)

  2. I’ve heard of this place. The French have no idea what a taco is, lol, as that’s a burrito. But I hope it was delicious , still looks tasty

    For the record, in the small world of French Tacos (tacos being the singular and plural, we of course separate it from the taco), O’Tacos probably serves the worst ones

  4. Oh wow, I remember seeing a branch of this place in Brussels. The combination of a French chain with an Irish name serving Mexican food on a Belgian street blew my mind.

  5. I wonder what’s the origin story of French tacos. Putting ground meat, cheese and fries in a wrap and calling it “tacos”, that doesn’t make any sense. And generally, us French are thought to have pretty good taste when it comes to food. But this… I just can’t explain it.

    Reminds me of this Irish-Jamaican small plates breakfast place I went to one time, Tapas the morning to jah.

  7. I’m French and I don’t really understand the concept. When I was a student the staple fast food was doner kebab. Now the “tacos” shops are everywhere. As far as I can tell it’s a meat, or something you would buy in the frozen food section of the supermarket like bad quality chicken nuggets or cordon bleu, with chips and sauce and then wrapped. Most of the flavour comes from the (pretty bad) sauce. So you take a basic takeaway and smother it in sauce so you can’t taste it.

  8. I saw one such place on Blvd St-Laurent in Montréal, unfortunately after hours. Yes they’re heretical, but so is Taco Bell, and I have easy access to legit tacos (with oreja and lengua offered) in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

  9. I always think these look nice when looking for food delivery. But realizing they are all just meat and french fries wrapped in more carbs I always ask myself where the vegetables are and order something else.

  10. Never understood why they were called Tacos, or if they were actually French, but the ones I had in Stuttgart weren’t bad for my taste. And yes I know that’s not in France if someone’s about to be a smartass. They’re a thing outside of France too.

  11. I would try this.

    I’ve tried certain MREs specifically to see how bad it tastes. So this shouldn’t be too bad.

  12. Quite sad to be in France, and go to one of the worst chain of the country.
    Not like you’re in one of the best country for food on the planet.
    Went once to try it cause one opened next to my home, after a good time spent on the toilet, I decided that if more happened at my butt than in my mouth, it probably doesn’t deserve to be called restaurant.

    I got that craziest food poisoning from this place and I posted about it on yelp and got the NYC health department bugging me about it

  14. I had one of these in Switzerland, and I did not enjoy it. I really wish they’d called it something other than a taco. It’s more like a burrito/panino hybrid, but not as tasty as either a burrito or most panini. 3/10, generally avoid if there are other options

    Of all the things that surprised me when I visited Morocco, these “tacos” places everywhere was among them.

  16. As somebody that lives in the heart of Tex-Mex food I’m just trying to understand here. Are these basically savory stuffed crepes but they can’t be bothered to make a crepe so they use a tortilla instead?

    Looks like a late night drunken panini made with whatever leftovers were in the fridge
