Yesterday I shared my rendition of an In & Out inspired animal style smoked hot tog. It was really good, but I wanted to make it more true to form. So I went to the store today and got the ingredients I needed to make it as close as possible to if In & Out made themselves. I present to you the smoked dog double double animal style with chopped cascabella peppers.

I started with spraying the inside of the bun with duck fat and used a torch to toast the bun. I followed that with two of the smoked jumbo beef hotdogs I smoked up yesterday, topped with melted deli style American cheese. I made my own spread with red pepper relish and finished up the toppings with dill pickle chips, chopped cascabella peppers, and grilled onions.

  1. Nice picture but that looks like it would be a pain to eat

Its just too loaded up to eat like a hot dog without making a mess

  2. Hmmm. I did pick up some Nathan’s beef dogs today. And I have a jar of the peppers. I think this is gonna be dinner tomorrow.

accidental renaissance lighting, caravaggio would applaud your use of chiaroscuro

  4. I mean it looks good, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just make two hotdogs out of that. Unless you were out of buns I guess.
