Hi guys, i get so confused with how calories / weight is worded on most pastas. For example, how would you weigh this pasta. The serving size is 210g. 210g / 351cal =1.5 cal per 1g. But 100g / 181cal =1.81cal per 1g. I don’t get it !!

Usually the back of the pack will estimate how much dry weight equates to what cooked weight. For example, Tesco penne pasta says that 75g raw equates to approx 170g cooked and is 300kcal. I always weigh raw and use the 75g = 300kcal as a guide.
Regular pasta / penne is 350cals approx per 100g raw.
Agree the packaging does make it more confusing but this is accurate. Some brands of pasta do list the uncooked calories.
To get the calories per gram you divide the calories by the grams, not the other way around. So at 210 g it’s 1.67 cal/g and at 100 g it’s 1.81 cal/g.
