The Yeatman Gastronomic Restaurant is a two-Michelin-star restaurant located in the Yeatman Hotel overlooking Porto and the Douro River.
The restaurant is known for its fine-dining take on Portuguese cuisine, with beautiful, gastronomic-style plating. The setting is very elegant and calm (romantic), with large windows that offer one of the best views in the city — especially at sunset.
Courses: A multi-course tasting menu, with a mix of seafood, meat, and creative seasonal dishes.
Although the dishes were creative and the presentation was visually appealing, this one didn’t quite match my taste buds. I understand that Portuguese cuisine tends to be on the saltier side, but for me, several courses felt a bit too salty. That might also be personal preference — I come from a background where we generally eat more mild or “bland” food on a daily basis — so my tolerance for salt may just be lower.
Service: Service was very professional and attentive. Staff explained each dish clearly, and the pacing of the meal was smooth.
Cost to Performance: It’s definitely on the higher end, even for Porto.
Personal Rating: 7.5/10
The food didn’t completely align with my personal taste preferences, and I was slightly disappointed since I had read many strong reviews beforehand. That said, the overall experience was still pleasant, and the stunning night view of Porto definitely makes the evening feel special.
