    Yum. That book has some gems. Page 119, peanut butter styrofoams, is awesome. 3 ingredient meringue cookie that is so much better than its name.

    My father wasn’t the best cook, and never baked. But every Christmas he’d make a triple batch of rum balls for the holidays. He wasn’t even a big drinker, he just loved them (and so did his friends and family)

  5. I ate these as a kid in the 70’s and a few years ago asked my wife to make some during a Christmas cookie baking night to make cookie tins as gifts for family and friends. I described them as “bourbon balls”. She looked up the recipe… described it to me in horror. I-ate-these-as-a-child… :-0

    They are delicious and no baking involved!

    Your plate looks like it’s from the same era as those recipes.

    And these plates are the sturdiest mf’ers around. We still have some that have been passed down from the elders. Mine have little green flowers on them.

    My mom’s made these for decades now around christmas! We call them Bourbon Balls in our family and usually use Maker’s Mark
