Japanese / east Asian inspired cuisine, mixed with breton and french cuisine. Most of the dishes looked stunning, and most of the flavours were on the subtle side, (which I personnally find a tad underwhelming), but some dishes were really standouts, notably picture 4, which is a VERY AIRY potato pureed mixed with stock and grains (it was extremely satisfying to eat, I would've eaten the whole pot if they let me, miam miam miam) and all the desserts, which were heavy on the acid, and light on the sugar. They catered fairly well to diatery restrictions some of the guests had, which was nice, and the staff was extremely friendly, we had a chat with the chef, and he was pretty cool as well.
There was a strong emphasis on citruses (lemon, lime, yuzu, combawa…) and local produces (picture 2). The meat / fish courses were good, and I appreciated the fact that they were not the centerpieces of the meal, it was refreshing compared to more classic dinners.
The wine pairing was neat, but I'm not expert, so I won't pretend I can judge it precisely.
Overall I'd recommend !
It'd be my second best in Rennes, just behind Racines (*), which albeit a bit more classical, had me really convinced.
