Did You Know? The earliest known version of French toast comes from ancient Rome, around the 4th or 5th century AD. Romans soaked bread in a mixture of milk and eggs, then fried it.
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- Butter
- Fresh raspberries
- Fresh blueberries
- Powdered sugar
- Syrup
- Bread slices
Directions:
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little butter to coat the surface.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are fully soaked.
- Place the soaked bread in the pan and cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Transfer to a plate, top with fresh berries, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and drizzle with syrup.

Looks great, but not sure the recipe is any different from every other French toast recipe I’ve ever seen
I like to basically use pumpkin pie spice as part of my seasoning for French toast. Cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, a tiny amount of clove, a dash of vanilla and a little milk added to the eggs. Sometimes, if I have it on hand, a little cardamom adds another level.
Yup this is a recipe for French toast.
What makes it next lvl?
This is hilarious. 4Th century ad name drop but same recipe we all use
mmm let’s go get some fuckin’ *french* toast!
I like to add some greek yogurt in with the milk and eggs. The tanginess from the yogurt with the maple syrup sweetness is really good.
