I’ve noticed that a lot of weight loss posts center around low-calorie or low-carb foods, but I can’t help wondering if we miss out on the importance of actual nutrients. I mean, sure, I could eat 1200 calories of cookies and hit my calorie goal, but I’d feel awful afterward.
I try to meet my nutritional needs at least 2–3 days a week, and I think it balances out over time but I also think nutrient quality plays a huge role in how we feel while trying to maintain or lose weight. Food that keep us fuller longer, slow burn complex carbs etc.
Do you actively track your nutrition beyond calories/macros, or do you think it’s overhyped when it comes to weight loss?
PS: I know I reached 1300 – I added a protein shake to the diary because I work 12 hour night shifts and sometimes need some protein by the end to keep me up the last 2 hours. All of my eating is done at work and I loosely intermittent fast.
