I get plant based mince (the brand is called V2) in my meal kits sometimes and every time it’s had these little white spots which I assume are harmless as it doesn’t smell/I’ve never gotten sick but I’m just wondering if anyone knows what it might be? As far as I know this mince is frozen until it’s delivered to me and then I refrigerate it and have 5 days to use it. Is it just freezer burn?

  1. V2 has always had them, and they melt when you cook it. I just assumed it was part of the design to ensure that it’s fatty enough.

  2. Yeah it’s like little fat nodules they put in to make it like real mince I’ve always assumed. I freeze veggie mince a lot which seems to increase how noticeable it is I find. Was it frozen ?

Solidified fat, to enhance the flavor. It melts into the mince when you cook it.
