I bought a Splenda blend because I thought it would cut the amount of sugar and calories because the sugar is cut with a zero calorie alternative. But that seems to not be the case because the same amount of Splenda and brown sugar shows that the blend is higher calorie. I made a pie and used Splenda in place of the brown sugar it called for thinking that it would significantly reduce the calories.
I did use the conversion chart, so I understand the idea is that you can use less Splenda to get the same amount of sweetness as straight sugar… but I already reduce the sugar in everything I make and was used to the reduced sweetness. I don’t need it to be equally sweet if it’s going to be higher calorie than just using less sugar. Sooo… what the point for me to use this? Am I missing something?
