I like this, and I bet others will too. Lots of people are visual learners, and this is a great way to have a tangible idea of what you’re eating. Do what works for you. 🙂

After you’ve been doing cico for a while, it gets really easy to guesstimate what the calories are in something. This is what I see in my brain when I look at a plate of food!

I started counting calories nearly 5 years ago and the calorie-to-size ratio of butter still makes me sad. Peanut butter, too. Don’t worry I’ve gotten over it lol.

I love this idea. I keep a food journal that my doctor checks monthly. Due to chronic back pain from the removal of a tumor on my spinal cord and a bone in my back to get to my tumor, I have gained a lot of weight to my lack of exercise and my messed up metabolism. So, my doctor has helped me get active again by having me walk 4 short walks a day instead of the one walk a day with my dog. My distance has greatly increased and am now walking .5 each walk with a total of 2 miles a day. It has gone great until today. I live in TX, and it was close to 90 degrees for my walk at 12:00. I am about to go again. I didn’t make it as far though due to the heat. So, I either will need to do all walks at night or two early in the morning and 2 at night. When it gets hit here for good though, I don’t know what I will do. I have a stationary bike but don’t enjoy it near as much. If I could work myself up to two miles in one walk, I could do the treadmill at the gym. But I am not there yet and can’t go to the gym 4 times a day. I feel so defeated.

But I love your picture idea and may copy it. My doctor wouldn’t talk calories with me though. He told me to focus on small portions, drinking 120 oz of water a day, cutting out any junk food, keeping a good journal that he can monitor, monthly weigh-ins with him, and taking 4 walks a day. It has been really easy so far. He didn’t want me to do a Keto diet. I did that a few years ago and lost 60 lbs but it came back when I added fruit to my diet and snacks. It is a tough commitment for me never to eat fruit. I have always had one green apple daily for about 20 years now. And it is healthy to eat fruit. I lost 8 lbs. last month and weigh this week on Thursday. I am nervous like last month that I messed up and gained weight. I don’t weigh at home because I am sure our scales are different. I am doing measurements and have lost some inches. I lost on every body part even if my arms only lost .5 oz, it was something. My waist was 3 inches smaller. So, I am going to start measuring myself on days I go to him and 2 weeks in the middle.

  5. How many grams of butter is that 😮 I found 2 or 3 grams more than enough for scrambled eggs

  6. How did you cook? Did you account for the calories gained if you cooked in oil?

I love this. It sort of forces you to appreciate every element of your meal.
