San Francisco, CA
I made a res for this place like 5 hours before we went because i was celebrating pulling a really cool pokemon card. To be honest, i didn’t have skyhigh expectations of the food (but i still thought it would be good!)
I know it’s not strictly fine dining but i do want to give a shoutout to how good the food (and the service was).
Our main server/host (Daniel) was actually really awesome – he told us not to get the pig ears because we already ordered a ton of food, but ended up bringing out this complimentary gigantic sampler of pig ears for us to munch on anyways. Besides that, i thought the rest of the servers were also very friendly and professional.
Food:
Beef Tartare (8.5/10): Beef tartare itself had a great flavor and texture, i loved how they used a jammy egg yolk instead of a runny/raw one. Paired well with the crisps, which were light but still flavorful.
Pig ears (10/10): These pig ears were insane – both crispy and chewy, and the caramelized fish sauce cut into the fattiness of the whole thing. Genuinely could not stop eating this.
Crispy Potatoes (9/10): Perfect, golden cubes of crispy potatoes. Outside layer of crispiness, yet the inside was still very soft and smooth. Paired nicely with a miso butter that was able to cut into the overall greasiness.
New York Strip (8/10) and Ribeye (8.5/10): Really nice crust on the outside, perfect salt levels and medium rare. Ribeye was slightly better just due to the overall fattiness, but the new york strip was still extremely tender and added a good balance.
Wagyu Fat Brownie (9/10): Insane dessert, the brownie itself had this griddle char like texture with each bite, so each bite was both a little crunchy/crispy yet chewy. The ice cream in the middle and the cream on the side both combined with the brownie for the perfect bite. I think if the brownie was warmer, it would’ve been even more delicious, but overall still an amazing dessert.
