I have only been drinking Mate for a few days now, so I by no means have a long perspective on this working BUT I started drinking it in the morning in stead of coffee because I heard it helps the body release more glp1 from one of Benjamin Bikman’s podcasts, and I can definitely feel it! It makes me less hungry and reduces that food noise a lot. I don’t know if it will continue to work but it has been really great the last little while.

I buy a big bag of dried Mate from a Latin market and then just steep the leaves in cool water on the counter overnight, strain it and use a French press to get everything out, warm it in the microwave a little and maybe put some creamer in it. It’s super good if you like earthy teas and it’s a great start to the day if you need some caffeine! I have also put the steeped tea in smoothies, made a Chai (Mate) Latte with it, it is super versatile if you have some imagination!
