Chefmaster purple gel food coloring (violet:purple), approx. 2:1 ratio
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp fine salt
1/2 cup purple sanding sugar, for rolling
Instructions
Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, egg yolk, vanilla, grape flavoring, and gel food coloring and mix until smooth.
Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together, then add to the dough and mix just until combined.
Portion the dough using a 1 oz scoop.
Roll each portion in the purple sanding sugar to fully coat, then gently press into a small puck shape. Freeze until solid.
Bake straight from frozen at 350°F for 12 minutes. The edges should be set and the centers just soft.
Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 2 to 3 minutes before moving.
