Food: some dishes are great, we love the rockfish and kohlrabi. The beef could use more seasoning even with the accompanying sauce. To us, the food is not bad but also nothing that we feel wowed.
The service: it was pretty bad and I hope it’s only just one time off or else I’m very concerned for them..
We both have a coat/jacket and no one asked if we want to check them. So we just put them on our chair and thought ok maybe they don’t offer that. But then we saw that some guests had their coats checked. Not a big deal, just feel off.
We got a 5:30pm reservation. Once we were seated, we waited for 20 min for a som to come to us to ask about drink order. He didn’t introduce the beverage or anything just simply ask ‘what drink can I get for you’, feel very rushed and not welcoming. The first course arrive at the same time as the som pouring a wine for us to taste. So we have to juggle between tasting the wine and listening to what’s the first course.
The service continues to be confusing with some server refill still water instead of sparking water, not a big deal but I never have that in a fine dining before. We had empty welcome drink glasses sitting on our table for about 2 courses until someone took them away.
My wife’s egg yolk dish has a string of hair in it, not just on top, it’s in the cream. The server didn’t seem bothered with it too much, of course they changed the dish for her.
Often time when servers give us a new set of utensil, they often don’t align them nicely, again a small detail but sometime it’s very crooked.
The wait time between dish is very long, 15-20 min.
All these are minor details but I expect a restaurant this level and price to pay attention to these details.
We had been to Anomaly before when they still didn’t have this permanent location and liked it. But we probably won’t go back again after this.
