Had an absolutely gorgeous lunch at Faro in Ginza, Tokyo. Husband and I both had the vegan set lunch and it did not disappoint. We were stuffed by the end of it.
Courses:
– Apple and celeriac tart with lemongrass jelly (left) / sweet potato deep fried dumpling (right)
– Salad of 20 kinds of vegetables, soya foam, black olive powder, bagna càuda sauce
– Cabbage ravioli with soya sourkraut and sage oil sauce
– Celeriac and truffle mille feuille with apple sauce
– Vegetarian beef wellington – Mixed mushroom and soy meat w a reduction of imperfect veg (the vegan puff pastry alone is worth trying)
– Chocolate mousse, Raspberry inside, matcha powder coating
– Chocolate gelato, vegan chantilly cream, rose and hinoki sauce, white chocolate shell w lemongrass cream
– Orange and lemongrass jelly in the petit four
Husband got the alcoholic pairing and I got non-alcoholic. Both were really well thought through. The Somm seemed really good took the time to craft the non-alc. I particularly liked the “Guinness” to go with the pie.
Staff are exceedingly attentive and kind. It was a very relaxed atmosphere even while being fancy.
Will definitely be back. If you eat anywhere in Tokyo that isn’t Japanese food I’d recommend here.
