Please don't laugh as I'm new to both vegetarian "meat" and cooking lol. These are refrigerated "chicken" pieces, they need to be cooked before eating, package just says keep refrigerated but I'm wondering if it's safe to cook a bunch of these with rice etc then freeze some portions to defrost & eat in future? Or do I need to get frozen quorn etc pieces? Thanks 🙂

  1. I don’t see why you couldnt do that. But, no one here is going to be able to tell you if it is safe. I would recommend emailing Lidl.

  2. I haven’t done that yet, but I’ve frozen similar items when they were on sale, then thawed as needed, ans there was nothing wrong with it. (Where I live, one package serves 2-3, depending on recipes and sides).

Now I come to think of it, I once frozen a fried rice with something similar in it, and the thawed meal was alright (granted I thawed it in the fridge, then reheated in a pan so it doesnt get too soggy.

As for food safety, idk, I had no issues. I am not completely reckless in this question, but also not one aiming for HACCP guidelines at home.

  3. Sure no problem

Tbh you don’t have to if you’re going to microwave reheat with the rice

I think they would work best for s burrito with rice and veggies snd cook everything together with taco seasoning or like make a stew with it.

Reheated as is with rice will be, dry and very basic
