I was lucky enough to get a seat at the Chef Gang pop up at Sushi Aozara last week. While I have been to Yoshino but it was after Chef Gang left.

This was an amazing meal, and i’m very excited to see what Chef Gang does when he eventually opens his own place. The otsumami was all chinese-inspired and extremely soothing to eat, his rice is mild (I usually prefer stronger rice) but still really good and nigiri was excellent. He also had an excellent tuna handroll that i didn’t take a picture of where he mixes the tuna with water chestnuts instead of daikon radish that was amazing. The ankimo is prepared the exact same way as Yoshino as well. Chef Gang himself is also an amazing personality – he’s constantly making conversation in three different languages and he’s super energetic.

Total price for the meal was ~$300 after tax and tip. I cannot wait for him to open his own place. Another excellent, unique sushiya further cementing NYC as the sushi capital of the world outside of Japan.
