Ever heard of these? Also known as shiso leaves. They’re comparable to grape leaves except chewier/tougher and more bitter which I know doesn’t sound glowing but the bite of cold astringent spice wrapped over piping hot rice was just so comforting in my childhood and now too after a busy day! 30-40 calories per 30g serving (about 8-9 leaves) and good fiber content!
I also used this as a chance to try a tip I saw on reddit to mix cauliflower rice with real rice to fluff up the volume. 85g cauliflower rice with 100g regular brown rice for 200 cal and I’d say it was a tasty success!
(You normally eat it with white sticky rice, but I wanted the lower GI with the brown..didn’t know brown rice had more calories than white until I bought it but oh well…)
