Humans as a species, not every person but as a species, are horrible. We’ve also been killing each other throughout history and now have added onto it destroying the environment. It’s pretty clear we suck.

….and chatgpt is also very harmful to the environment. Output from chatgpt can be, and often is, incorrect and shouldn’t be shared as fact.

It baffles me how nature is not already completely dead with those numbers

The nature of the food chain is that as you move down it, numbers of organisms multiply dramatically. But the degree to which we exploit animals is quite grotesque. People need to think more about the harm they’re doing.

While these numbers/figures are far from completely accurate, it all boils down to a numbers issue. Humans need to eat and because of our big brains we need a high caloric/fat intake. We also through the fact of having awareness, have desire for variety in our diet. All of that means a ridiculous amount of food is needed to be produced. Even if every human was vegetarian/vegan for the last 200k years we would still have major issues with how and what we were producing and eating. Yes they wouldn’t be animals, but we would have used so much land to produce the 4 to 5 billion metric tons a year needed. Which would probably be even higher the we could guestimate.
Long story short, all humans are root of the problem. IMHO
