Being a volume eater, my worst enemy is visually needing to see a full plate and feel full when I’m done eating. I’m in the process of trying to mend that mindset, but for now, that’s where I am.
So, in order to try to satisfy both of those things while also staying low calorie and low effort, I started eating a cup of raw broccoli and a half cup of raw sugar snap peas before I eat the rest of my meal. I do this for breakfast most often, but sometimes for lunch and dinner too depending on what I’m eating. My plate is full, the crunch is satisfying, the fiber is filling, and I’m sitting in more green vegetables which is never a bad thing. Plus, once I’m done the veggies, all I have left to eat is the “good food” (what I’m actually excited to eat).
This entire meal was 250 calories (2.5 slices of turkey bacon, 1/4 cup of full fat cottage cheese, 1/2 cup of blueberries, 1 cup of raw broccoli and 1/2 cup of sugar snap peas). I added another 157 calories for my Fairlife chocolate protein shake that I mixed in with my black cold brew coffee in the Hydroflask.
